If creating content is part of your daily routine, the process has likely become as natural as breathing.

You get your cup of coffee, sit down and start plugging away writing posts that would give Shakespeare a run for his money. OK, so that might be a little over the top, but wouldn’t it be nice to have the process flow that smoothly?

It may get difficult at times to find a source of inspiration or even get a good read on what your audience is enjoying. Sure, seeing the count on your social media buttons go up on certain posts can be a fairly useful indicator of performance. But, as we know, social is volatile and finding a coherent pattern for posts achieving success may not be that easy to figure out.

SEO: we’ve all heard the acronym a million times by now, but many people still don’t realize the power those three letters can hold for the health of a website.

SEO – aka search engine optimization – can make the content of your site more relevant, more attractive, and more easily understood by search engines and humans.  Lack of proper SEO or poorly planned SEO can have some hefty implications for your site that aren’t immediately obvious from looking at the surface.

Of course, some people dismiss the notion of SEO relatively quickly: “Well I don’t care if I rank in search engines, I have loyal customers.” This could be true, but what about all of the potential customers you’re missing out on because they can’t find you?

Think of SEO like your store, it has great products and merchandise but no one can find the location. That means a lot of lost sales and well, a pretty empty store that probably wouldn’t survive very long. This situation is exactly like poor SEO on your website.

5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Google Analytics

I’d like to think I’m pretty web savvy.

I know my fair share of HTML code, and have a lot of experience measuring the performance of websites. But when I was asked if I’d like to attend some Google Analytics 101 training I jumped at the offer—even before I knew breakfast andlunch were going to be free.

To be honest, I am kind of a nerd and really enjoy looking through analytics and putting all the data together to tell a story. While it’s great to say “pageviews are up 15% over last month” or “the bounce rate for site A decreased over the past 2 months” many will yawn at these numbers and others will scratch their heads.

And perhaps more importantly, it is great fodder to get your boss/client/advertiser excited about the work you’re doing because they are seeing (and understanding) results.
